One Day At A Time

I’m glad God doesn’t announce upfront what we’ll be doing in the future—it could be overwhelming. But knowing God himself holds the past, present, and future should put our minds at ease.

I give you strength for one day at a time, but you’ve been upset about what might happen in the future. Be assured that I will be doing the same thing tomorrow that I did yesterday and today—watching over you and those you love! Worry paralyzes you and makes you too upset to accomplish anything. You have enough to deal with today without trying to handle the challenges of tomorrow as well.

When you push one day into the future, you give up the joy I have for you today. What you’re worrying about may never happen, but you forfeit precious time with Me and with those closest to you. You’re trying to control what you should place in My hands. Use the resources I’ve given you right now to handle today’s needs, and everything else will fall into its proper place. I promise to take care of you.

That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?
