Nearness

Nearness

So when we sing, “Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,” we are not thinking of the nearness of place, but of the nearness of relationship. It is for increasing degrees of awareness that we pray, for a more perfect consciousness of the divine Presence.

A. W. Tozer

Draw near to Me. Come close. Be still in My presence. Enjoy our time together. Take pleasure in spending time with Me. Instead of diving into the busyness of your day, linger in My presence and talk to Me. I love the sound of your voice, and the light in your eyes brings Me pleasure. You may need to rise earlier for us to spend these precious moments together, but it will be worth your extra effort. Everything about your day will go more smoothly if you spend time with Me before making decisions, zigzagging in and out of meetings, or rushing to your next appointment.

I want you to approach Me with assurance so you can receive mercy and grace during your time of need (Hebrews 4:16, NIV). I reward those who search for Me. When you seek Me, you will always find Me. The nearer you are to Me, the more you will become like Me. Your choices, attitude, behavior, speech, compassion, and giving will be a reflection of My heart, and your actions an extension of My will. Come even closer, My child.

Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings.

Hebrews 10:22, NIV
