His Presence

Wide awake to the presence of God, I realized I had been so focused on asking why a good God allowed bad things to happen that I was missing out on the nearness of God all along. In becoming preoccupied with the why, I was missing the who.

I am waiting for you to practice the conscious awareness of My presence. Instead, you’ve been questioning why your all-powerful God would allow bad things to take place and produce heavy challenges in your life. With each doubt, you’ve been moving further away from experiencing the closeness we once had.

Beginning today, set a time to intentionally contemplate our relationship. Ask Me to comfort you, convict you, and lead you according to My will. Deliberately reflect on My works, My care for you in the past, and My character. An awareness of My presence will bring peace, joy, and love even when you are surrounded by troublesome distractions. Remember the words of Jacob: “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it” (Genesis 28:16, NIV). My presence is always with you.

You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
