Goodness

Goodness

God is good whether or not His choices seem right to us, whether or not we feel it, whether or not it seems true, and whether or not He gives us everything that we want.

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Goodness is one of My attributes, but in the middle of your struggles you sometimes question how good I’ve been to you. Today I want you to taste and see that I am good (Psalm 34:8). My love for you is great, and I want to immerse you in My goodness. Join the psalmist and say, “You are good and do only good; teach me your decrees” (Psalm 119:68). Just as parents want goodness for their children, I desire only goodness for you. That’s why I gave you the gift of My perfect, holy Son, Jesus, so you could join My family and live with Me forever in heaven.

Look around and name some of My good gifts to you today. Know that they are freely given from My hand. “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father. . . . He never changes or casts a shifting shadow” (James 1:17). Allow that truth to give you encouragement and security. You can depend upon My steady supply of goodness.

How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.

Psalm 31:19
