Courage isn’t a feeling that you wait for. Courage is doing when you don’t have courage. Courage is doing it scared.

When you are faced with foreboding circumstances, beware of fear that comes in without warning. You can choose bravery if you ask Me for help. It’s easy to look around and do what pleases people. Instead, practice Christian courage—the willingness to say and do the right thing, regardless of what anyone else thinks. Acts of valor are often painful—emotionally and mentally—especially when they involve confrontation or controversy.

A brave faith develops when you replace self-confidence with God-confidence. When you lack faith in My promises, you shrink back in fear. But when you practice God-confidence, you “take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5, ESV); you recognize the enemy (1 Peter 5:8); you wield the shield of faith and grip the sword of My Word (Ephesians 6:16-17). A bold reliance on Me will enable you to do more—exceedingly more—than you ever thought possible.
