Comparison
Comparison
Comparison will be the number one thing that will keep you from doing what God’s calling you to do. He’s put a gift and a call and a desire in your heart that is different than anyone else’s. And you’re wired that way for a reason.
Kari Jobe
Accept yourself the way I made you. Discontent and envy creep into your life when you look around and ask yourself, “Am I as attractive as that person? Are my gifts as important as his? Is my family as perfect as that family? Does God love other people more than He loves me? Why is her life free of suffering while I live in pain every day?” Envy will take away your happiness. It will eat away at your contentment. Anytime you compare yourself with others and feel like you don’t measure up, your satisfaction in life diminishes and you end up questioning your worth.
Instead of looking at others, consider why I created you. Contentment in life comes from doing the best you can with the gifts I’ve given you. Follow the passion I’ve placed within you and pour your energy, time, and resources into the people and projects that allow you to follow the calling I’ve given you. Strive to be the person I made you to be, and you’ll find fulfillment, satisfaction, and abiding joy. You are unique. There is no one like you. Do the work I’ve assigned to you and seek your approval from Me. I’m already delighted by your giftedness.
Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.
