Why Do You Pray?

Why Do You Pray?

When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

Matthew 6:5-6

What motivates you to pray?

Is it that you feel like you should?

You need something from God?

You want to know him more?

You desire to be a better person?

Don’t be afraid to have an honest conversation with God about why you pray. Ask him to reveal your real motives for praying.

But first remind yourself that God accepts, delights in, and unconditionally loves you.
