Truth Teller

Truth Teller

Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing. Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed. . . . The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.

Proverbs 12:18-19, 22

The truth is that we don’t always like to tell the truth because it exposes our motives, it can make us look bad in front of others, and it forces us to be accountable.

In what situations are you most tempted to exaggerate, stretch the truth, or tell a little white lie? Commit to telling the truth no matter what the potential consequences to you.

While the short-term consequences of consistent truth telling might sometimes be painful, the long-term outcome will be deep relationships with others because they can always trust you. And remember that God will honor your honesty.
