Silent Prayer

Silent Prayer

They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust.

John 8:6-8

This passage seems to suggest that Jesus remained silent long enough for the religious leaders to keep demanding an answer from him.

Pause for a moment to take a difficult situation to God in prayer, and then spend some time in silence.

After you have been silent for a few minutes, ask God if there is anything he would like to say to you about this.

How did silence help you notice the presence and work of God this week?
