Reconnecting To God
Reconnecting to God
David said to God, “I have sinned greatly. . . . Please forgive my guilt for doing this foolish thing.”
1 Chronicles 21:8
It is human nature to hide and cover when we have done something wrong. Adam and Eve hid in the bushes and covered themselves with leaves after they sinned in the Garden of Eden. The guilt and shame of their sin placed a relational barrier between God and them.
Do you let your sin come between you and God? If sin separates you from God, confession is the bridge that reconnects you. It allows you to go back to God so that you can receive his mercy and experience his forgiveness. Confession is essential because it reminds you of your need for Jesus and the Cross.
But this can happen only when you allow the Holy Spirit to bring the darkest places of your heart into the light. As you practice confession this week, remind yourself of God’s unconditional love and acceptance despite your sinful nature.
