Perfection Not Required

Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. He had loved his disciples during his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end.

John 13:1

Jesus saw his disciples at their best—and their very worst.

They argued about who was the greatest, doubted him even after witnessing his miracles, and betrayed him in his time of greatest need. Yet he still loved them.

Read the passage again. Do you believe that God’s acceptance is dependent on your being at your best?

Talk to God about where you are not perfect.

Do you gossip?

Are you easily angered?

Do you struggle with fear or pride?

Whatever challenges you, thank God for his grace and for loving you no less because of your struggles.
