Lift Up Another

Dear brothers and sisters, pray for us.

1 Thessalonians 5:25

Do you ever say you will pray for someone and then forget to do it? How often do you pray for believers around the world? For the leaders of your country? For your church?

God’s Word urges us to pray for all people (see 1 Timothy 2:1). Praying for others means going before the Lord on their behalf. This requires humility because it causes us to set aside our own agendas in prayer to lift up someone else to our heavenly Father.

We may never know the outcome of our prayers in this lifetime, but God promises that our earnest prayers have great power and produce wonderful results (see James 5:16).

This week will stretch you to pray for others in your home, in your neighborhood, and across the globe. Some exercises will challenge you to pray for people you may not want to pray for. Ask God to give you a heart of compassion toward them. Trust that he will use your prayers to produce wonderful results you never thought possible.
