Feeling Welcomed

May the Lord show special kindness to Onesiphorus and all his family because he often visited and encouraged me. He was never ashamed of me because I was in chains.

Author Jen Wilkin describes the difference between entertaining and hospitality by stating, “Entertaining seeks to impress. Hospitality seeks to bless.”*

How often do you try to impress others rather than bless them?

Ask a few close friends how they felt in your presence the first time they were invited into your home.

Did they feel welcomed and safe?

Did you try to get to know them by asking thoughtful questions?

Did you give them your full attention when you were together?

Be open and receptive to their answers. Set aside any defensiveness; simply listen and be open.
