Empty Worry - Habits of the Heart

Empty Worry

When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.

Psalm 56:3

Nazi concentration camp survivor Corrie ten Boom stated, “Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows; it empties today of its strength.”a

Think about a worry that is currently on your mind. Engage your body in prayer by holding out your hands and making fists as you pray about this concern.

When you are done praying, open your hands to symbolize releasing control of this issue to God.

As you finish this week of practicing trust in God, think about the areas where have you made progress.

What aspect has been most difficult for you?

a Corrie ten Boom, quoted in Max Lucado, Life to the Full (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 2005), 48.
