Guard Your Mind

Guard Your Mind

The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

John 10:10 nlt

Pause

I pulled into our driveway after running errands. A difficult conversation with a family member a month prior replayed in my head. I felt hurt and anger try to drag me into a dark place. Then a thought came to mind: Do your family a favor. Drive away and never return.

That’s how Satan works. He attacks our minds (especially when we’re vulnerable) because he knows that the thoughts we dwell on eventually become actions. Those actions determine our destiny, and his desire for our destiny is destruction.

God, on the other hand, wants an abundant life for us. Don’t mistake that for an easy life. It’s a life rich with peace, contentment, and hope. It’s filled to the brim with joy that comes from intimacy with him.

Be alert to the thoughts that pop into your mind during this season. If they’re not truth-based, then don’t let them linger. Guard your mind with God’s truth to ensure your destiny will be the one he desires.

Ponder

Identify a recent thought that’s not truth-based. What is the truth?

Pray

Lord, make me aware of wrong thinking and help me focus on what’s right.

“Most of life’s battles are won or lost in the mind.”
