My Question for God
What happens when I lose sight of God?
A Moment with God
The people of Israel said to Moses, “Look, we are doomed! We are dead! We are ruined! Everyone who even comes close to the Tabernacle of the LORD dies. Are we all doomed to die?”
Numbers 17:12-13
Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!”
Luke 10:40-41
The perspective of the Israelites was completely opposite of reality. Instead of seeing the Tabernacle as a place to worship God, they saw it as a place to fear him. What happened? Their perspective of God changed because they began to choose disobedience over obedience and thus set themselves up for the natural and painful consequences of sin. Obeying God is the only way to keep an accurate perspective on life, because obedience keeps you focused on what is really important, leads you into God’s will, and gives you an eternal orientation that affects the way you live here on earth. Obeying God shows you that all you really need is what God supplies in great abundance. When you drift away from consistent obedience to God, you lose your perspective. Your daily choices become more selfish, and you slide toward cynicism and dissatisfaction. But if you make God your first priority of the day, he will give you perspective on your activities for the rest of the day and a greater desire to obey him as you see the rewards of obedience. Ask God to show you what is really worth being concerned about, and you will maintain a right perspective.
Divine Promise
If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
Matthew 16:25
