Is there any risk associated with faith in God?

A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.

Most of us try to minimize risk. We have insurance policies, retirement accounts, and alarm systems. This need to protect ourselves is not a bad thing unless it keeps us from doing what we want to do, what we have to do, or what we are called by God to do. The Bible tells us that the Christian life is risky; spiritual growth and success can only occur with some level of risk. Taking foolish chances is not the same as taking a risk—it’s either stupidity, or it’s being totally unrealistic about your goals. Taking a risk entails having a worthy goal, a good chance of achieving it, and a strong dose of confidence. Risk-taking is necessary if you want to grow in your relationship with God. When he calls you to do something that is out of your comfort zone, obey him despite the risk of failing, and trust him to help you succeed. Though it may seem like a moment of risk, it will actually be a divine moment of growth.

DIVINE PROMISE

Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you. Psalm 37:5
