Respect

Respect

MY QUESTION for GOD

How can I show respect to other people?

A MOMENT with GOD

Moses listened to his father-in-law’s advice and followed his suggestions.

Exodus 18:24

Dear brothers and sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work. . . . Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work.

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

A despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him. Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds.

Luke 10:33-34

Joab bowed with his face to the ground in deep respect and said, “At last I know that I have gained your approval, my lord the king, for you have granted me this request!”

2 Samuel 14:22

Every person has the need to feel respected. When David gave the order for Joab’s plan be put into effect, Joab was overjoyed at the sense of his own worth. You can show respect to others in several ways: (1) Listen. Good listening gives dignity to others by putting them at the center of your attention. (2) Affirm. Saying “You’re right” or “That’s a good idea” is very powerful. (3) Act. Following through on other people’s suggestions is the strongest possible statement of your respect for them. When it is necessary to disagree with others, you should do so with a respectful attitude. Implement these actions in your relationship with God as well. He deserves your greatest respect.

DIVINE PROMISE

Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world. 1 Peter 2:12
