Excellence
Excellence
MY QUESTION for GOD
Why is it important to strive for excellence?
A MOMENT with GOD
God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!
Genesis 1:31
Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies.
1 Peter 4:11
Hezekiah encouraged all the Levites regarding the skill they displayed as they served the Lord.
2 Chronicles 30:22
The Lord has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. . . . And the Lord has given both him and Oholiab . . . the ability to teach their skills to others.
Exodus 35:31-34
Excellence is performing beyond expectations—and it is rare for something or someone to exceed expectations. An excellent car will perform even better than you thought it would, and it will actually make driving fun. A medical doctor striving for excellence might develop a new vaccine that saves people’s lives. God wants us to pursue excellence because doing so shows we care about doing things right, that we care about helping people to the best of our ability. Pursuing excellence helps others experience excellence by giving them a glimpse of God’s character and inspiring them to pursue excellence themselves. God initiated excellence in the beauty of his creation, and we are called to perpetuate it. Our lives display excellence when we consistently strive to model ourselves after Jesus Christ, who was perfect, and as we go about the work he has called us to do. We’ll never be perfect in this life, but as we work toward that goal, we will model excellence to those around us.
DIVINE PROMISE
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. Colossians 3:23-24
