Desires
Desires
MY QUESTION for GOD
Is it okay to really want something?
A MOMENT with GOD
That night the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!”
1 Kings 3:5
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.
Proverbs 13:12
I desire you more than anything on earth.
Psalm 73:25
Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.
Isaiah 26:8
If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
Jeremiah 29:13
God created desire within you as a means of expressing yourself. Desires are good and healthy when they are directed toward those things that are good and right and God-honoring. The same basic desire can be right or wrong, depending upon your motives and the object of your desire. For example, the desire to love a woman is healthy and right when it is directed toward your wife. But that same desire directed toward anyone you are not married to is adultery. The desire to lead an organization is healthy if your motive is to serve others, but it is unhealthy and wrong if your motive is to gain power or control over others. Your greatest desire must be for a relationship with God, which will influence all your other desires.
DIVINE PROMISE
I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. Ezekiel 36:26
