Does God want me to be busy all the time?

A MOMENT with GOD

We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth, not knowing who will spend it.

Psalm 39:6

Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.

Proverbs 19:2

You hoped for rich harvests, but they were poor. And when you brought your harvest home, I blew it away. Why? Because my house lies in ruins, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, while all of you are busy building your own fine houses.

Haggai 1:9

He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.

Psalm 23:2

We often operate under the false assumption that being busy means being productive or that resting means being lazy. But it’s possible to have unproductive activity and productive rest! The Bible points out many benefits of being busy, such as earning a living, providing for your family, and advancing God’s kingdom. But being too busy can damage your relationships (with God and with others), cause burnout, or prevent you from focusing on your real priorities. As with anything you do, learning to strike a balance between working, having fun, and resting will allow you to be productive in all areas of life.

DIVINE PROMISE

Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29
