Burnout
Burnout
MY QUESTION for GOD
I’m burning the candle at both ends. How do I find the strength to keep going when it seems I have nothing left?
A MOMENT with GOD
When David and his men were in the thick of battle, David became weak and exhausted.
2 Samuel 21:15
I am exhausted and completely crushed. My groans come from an anguished heart.
Psalm 38:8
Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.
Isaiah 30:15
Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. . . . You will find rest for your souls.
Matthew 11:28-29
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:29-31
Burnout is an overwhelming exhaustion and inability to push on, usually brought about by too much stress. We all experience times of burnout, when we feel tapped out emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. In our fast-paced, 24-7 world, it isn’t surprising that we become quickly exhausted. Because burnout is so draining and paralyzing, you need to take care of your body and mind by eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep and relaxation. One of the best ways to reduce burnout is to take time out to be close to God. When you draw close to him, you can tap into his power, strength, peace, protection, and love. This will give you the strength to persevere through even the worst times of burnout.
DIVINE PROMISE
The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Psalm 23:1-3
