MY QUESTION for GOD
What does it mean to be a servant leader?
A MOMENT with GOD
Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. . . . In human form, he humbled himself.
Philippians 2:6-8
Jesus revolutionized our understanding of leadership by teaching “downward mobility.” In a striking picture of servanthood, Jesus humbled himself by performing the task of a slave. Jesus’ obedience to his Father’s will modeled how far we are to go in serving others.
When Jesus heard them, he stopped and called, “What do you want me to do for you?”
Matthew 20:32
Being a servant leader means listening and responding to the needs of those around you.
He got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him.
John 13:4-5
As a servant leader, you should be willing to perform any task that you delegate to others.
Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.
Luke 1:38
The essence of servant leadership is humbly doing what God asks you to do.
If you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.
Luke 14:27
You must learn to follow God before you can learn to lead.
DIVINE CHALLENGE
WHOEVER WANTS TO BE A LEADER AMONG YOU MUST BE YOUR SERVANT, AND WHOEVER WANTS TO BE FIRST AMONG YOU MUST BE THE SLAVE OF EVERYONE ELSE. Mark 10:43-44
