Guarding Your Heart
Guarding Your Heart
MY QUESTION for GOD
What does it mean to guard my heart, and why is it important?
A MOMENT with GOD
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Proverbs 4:23
I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Matthew 5:28
[Jesus] added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality . . . lustful desires.”
Mark 7:20-22
Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light.
Luke 11:34
Your actions tell you the condition of your heart because that is where they begin. Left unchecked, wrong thoughts will eventually result in wrong actions. For example, if you allow yourself to think about having sex with someone who is not your spouse, your heart will begin to convince you that what you want to do is okay. The Bible says that the heart is “desperately wicked” (Jeremiah 17:9). In other words, don’t trust your heart to tell you what is right and good. Trust God’s Word; it comes from God’s heart, which is good and perfect.
DIVINE PROMISE
PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING. TELL GOD WHAT YOU NEED, AND THANK HIM FOR ALL HE HAS DONE. THEN YOU WILL EXPERIENCE GOD’S PEACE, WHICH EXCEEDS ANYTHING WE CAN UNDERSTAND. HIS PEACE WILL GUARD YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS AS YOU LIVE IN CHRIST JESUS. Philippians 4:6-7
