Enemies
MY QUESTION for GOD
Who are my enemies, and how can they defeat me?
A MOMENT with GOD
Then Delilah pouted, “How can you tell me, ‘I love you,’ when you don’t share your secrets with me? . . .” She tormented him with her nagging day after day until he was sick to death of it. Finally, Samson shared his secret with her. . . . The Philistines captured him and . . . he was bound with bronze chains.
Judges 16:15-17, 21
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith.
1 Peter 5:8-9
Put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.
Ephesians 6:13
Temptation is an enemy that always strikes at your weak spot. The Philistines knew they couldn’t match Samson’s brute strength, so they aimed at his weakness—his inability to stay away from seductive women. “How can you say you love me?” Delilah whined. And Samson gave in. Your weak spots are those areas you refuse to give over to God, the areas in which you compromise your convictions for a few moments of pleasure. They are joints in your spiritual armor, and the enemy takes aim at them. It is in those areas of weakness where you must ask God for help so he can protect your vulnerable spots with his strength. Your own weaknesses can become your enemy. You must understand them so you can arm yourself against Satan’s attacks. It is disastrous to discover your weak spots in the heat of the battle, as Samson did. Then it is too late, and the enemy will defeat you. You must discover your weaknesses before the fighting begins. With the Lord fighting beside you and with a strategy in place to protect your most vulnerable points, you will be prepared for any enemy.
DIVINE PROMISE
BE STRONG IN THE LORD AND IN HIS MIGHTY POWER. PUT ON ALL OF GOD’S ARMOR SO THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO STAND FIRM AGAINST ALL STRATEGIES OF THE DEVIL. Ephesians 6:10-11
