Authority

Authority

MY QUESTION for GOD

How can authority be abused?

A MOMENT with GOD

Let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous.

Genesis 11:4

O Egypt, to which of the trees of Eden will you compare your strength and glory? You, too, will be brought down to the depths with all these other nations. You will lie there among the outcasts who have died by the sword. This will be the fate of Pharaoh and all his hordes. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!

Ezekiel 31:18

It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.

2 Corinthians 3:5

Authority can be intoxicating because it is often accompanied by recognition, control, and wealth. These things feed pride, and pride leads away from God and into sin. This is why the power that comes from authority so often corrupts. If you are in a position of authority, accountability and service will help you use it wisely. When you are held accountable for your motives and actions, you are more careful in what you say and do. When you determine to serve others rather than be served, you will gain respect and loyalty from those under your authority.
