Deeper Life #325
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
—Ephesians 4:7
JUST AS THERE IS ONLY one kind of human nature, there is only one kind of divine nature. And the holiness which the Bible teaches is the positive characteristic of the Christian is the kind Jesus had. God made His disciples one in holiness with Him.
They were not only made one in holiness, but one in love. Every Bible student must realize that there is an important kind of love taught in the Bible, and that is the love of God. The baptism with the Holy Spirit does not “patch up” natural human love to reach the standard of divine love, but makes the disciple one in love with his Lord.
The characteristic of Spirit-baptized ones is that they show the same unmerited mercy, the same unmerited love to others that Jesus showed to them.
Prayer Thought: I will earnestly seek to love my fellow man as I have been loved by Christ—with all my heart.
