Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

DURING THREE YEARS OF FOLLOWING Jesus, the disciples more and more misunderstood Jesus. Their discipleship grew more and more strained, until the strain grew so intense that it snapped. They all forsook Him!

What happened during those three years when they traveled with and learned from Him? Jesus Christ revealed Himself to them. He put them through crises to reveal to the disciples themselves who they were. After the Resurrection, the disciples’ eyes were opened and they understood Him. Then they understood that God had given them the mighty Holy Spirit. But during the early period of discipleship, they were put through crises that revealed their own weaknesses to themselves.

Prayer Thought: Dear Lord, it is necessary that I understand myself as You see and know me. Give me that understanding, I pray.
