Deeper Life #256

God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

—1 Corinthians 1:9

OH, UNSPEAKABLY BLESSED IS THE believer’s fellowship with God! “In thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Psalm 16:11).

This fellowship is ours by the sheer might of the atonement of Jesus, who gave Himself for us. The Christian soul, incandescent with the Holy Spirit, walks and talks with God as friend with friend, and lets God do as He will with him.

My goal is God Himself, not joy, nor peace,

Nor even blessing, but Himself, my God;

’Tis His to lead me there, not mine, but His—

“At any cost, dear Lord, by any road.”

Prayer Thought: Father, I am grateful for the privilege of living for You.
