Deeper Life #255

Deeper Life #255

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

—Psalm 107:31

Psalm 107 CONTAINS AN ACCOUNT of people who would not come to God until they got to their wit’s end. Then they cried to God and He heard them. But people who are filled with the Holy Spirit are ready to give praise to God at all times; praise flows naturally from their hearts. Our Lord said that the Holy Spirit would not do anything but the following:

1. He will glorify Me.

2. He will bring to your remembrance what I have said and lead you into all truth about that.

3. He will not speak of Himself.

In analyzing God’s marvelous work of entire sanctification, we find a natural fascination with the purifying and cleansing side of sanctification; indeed, the Bible refers often to this aspect of the Spirit’s work (John 17:17; Hebrews 13:12; Acts 15:8–9). Yet there is more. The Holy Spirit is the presence of God in the heart of man. The Holy Spirit is the gift of Jesus Christ to mankind. And when He dwells within us, we want only to praise our God.

Prayer Thought: I praise Your name, O God, for Your goodness and wonderful works on my behalf!
