Deeper Life #251
Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
—Proverbs 28:14
IF GOD HAS EVER POINTED out to you the one thing that is wrong in your life—as He did with that vigorous pagan called Herod—you are to blame if you did not listen. Too many of us once listened gladly to the things God said, but have now grown “dull of hearing.”
There is coming a time when God will not speak to you, if you insist in your disobedience. Truth will become a farce and all of the truth of God will become a farce likewise. God forbid that any man or woman who reads this should ever stand face to face with the son of perdition! Yet that is the fate of anyone who turns away from God’s voice.
When a person has this immoral fixity of character, his waywardness will be arrested by God, not by the Devil. This is an awful and terrible truth, one to which many people will not readily listen.
Prayer Thought: May I never cease to obey You, O God.
