Deeper Life #149
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
—John 3:19
WHAT KIND OF HEART HAVE you? Is it a self-centered heart? There is only one result to that—condemnation. No one is condemned for being bad. No one is condemned for doing wrong. The person condemned is the one who insists on saving himself, instead of trusting Jesus to save him.
Be careful, my friend! You may have a good testimony, a spotless record, and yet be condemned at the end of it all. Like Judas, you may have been with Jesus Christ for three long years, night and day; you may have been used of Him; but you may be exposed, expelled, and condemned by Him.
Judas was “the man with a double mind,” who served Jesus on one side but groveled to Jesus’ enemies on the other. Have you followed Judas’s example? Then confess it to the Lord. It is not a question between you and me, or you and any other human being, but a question between you and God.
Prayer Thought: Father, correct me when I stumble. Cleanse me of any tendency to betray You.
