Deeper Life #147

Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

—2 Corinthians 13:11

WHAT IS DEATH? WHEN JESUS Christ grips my soul, death is a mere episode; death has no sting in it. The saint has a peace as deep as God, as unruffled as God, even in the face of death.

Do you understand that “the joy of the Lord is your strength”? We are so apt to look at the difficulty of the ways we are going; but the saint has God’s mighty peace in his heart, and he sees it is all right. Do not let your heart be troubled, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

Prayer Thought: Oh, the bliss of Your peace! Your joy, Lord, is my strength.
