Carry Them To Jesus

Do not cease to cry out to the LORD our God for us, that He may save us.

1 Samuel 7:8

Just as the four men in Mark 2 carried their sick friend on a bed to Jesus, we can carry our friends to Jesus on a stretcher of prayer. We bring them to Jesus as we intercede for them and as we plead for their salvation. He can heal them, He can forgive them, and He responds to our faith.

For many years, Cathy Crawford, missionary to France, prayed earnestly for her father’s salvation. In time, she developed some health problems and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She was able to continue her missionary work. While home on furlough, she had trouble traveling from church to church, so her retired father offered to drive her. As a result, he not only repeatedly heard her missionary testimony, but he heard biblical sermons almost every night of the week from the host pastors. By the end of the summer, he was won to Christ.

“I can be thankful for my illness,” Cathy said, “for God used it to answer the greatest prayer in my heart, the one for my dad’s salvation.”

Do you have a friend or loved one for whom you’re burdened? Don’t cease to cry out for God to save that person, though the case is hard. Follow Jesus’ advice: we “always ought to pray and not lose heart” (Luke 18:1).
