Daily Power #93

Daily Power #93

Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. (1 Chron. 16:11)

I’ve got six kids, and I’ve always related differently to each of them, especially when they were little. One daughter always wanted to read with me before she opened up to talk about what was on her heart. Another daughter seemed to be quiet as a mouse all day, but then around bedtime, she was like, boom!—a DJ on talk radio! One of my sons would say, “Daddy, can we go on a walk?” and take my hand. There was something special about holding hands with my little boy as he reflected on his day. My other son needed an hour or so of wrestling and giggling before he was exhausted enough to want to talk.

I think we all connect to God in different ways too. Prayer is not just kneeling by your bed with hands clasped. You might love to sing and enjoy making up little melodies as you pray to God. Maybe you like to take your time and write out your thoughts to him. Maybe you talk to him out loud, and especially after a hard day, you just unload your heart to your Father, talking and crying and even yelling.

Or if you’re having a great day, you may be like, “God, wow, I love that sunset! You’re just showing off. You are so awesome, God.” You might even have heard something funny, so you tell God a joke. Sure, he’s heard it before, but you know, like a loving Daddy with his child in his arms, he laughs and shares your joy just the same.

Whatever you do, and however you do it, seek God daily.

Power Lift

Daddy God, thank you that I can be myself with you today, praying any way I want. Thank you for listening to me. I’m glad that you love spending time with me.
