Daily Power #277

Daily Power #277

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. (Prov. 16:24)

You’ve probably figured out by now that I have quite a sweet tooth. Donuts are my Achilles’ heel. Someone thinks they’re doing a good deed by dropping off a couple dozen Krispy Kremes to our church office. They’re often still warm with all that sugary glaze glistening, their fresh-fried smell wafting down the hall to me. My temptation isn’t limited to donuts either. Cake is a perennial winner, along with anything chocolate.

But I’ve learned there’s actually something sweeter and much healthier than any dessert or treat: gracious words. When someone encourages me with a sincere compliment, a favorite verse, or an unexpected text, I feel so good inside. I’m reminded that I’m not alone in my struggles. I’m encouraged to try harder and to keep my eyes on Christ. And I’m inspired to share the power of positive words by telling others how much I appreciate them, how much they mean to me, what I see God doing in their lives.

Our gracious words are better than donuts. Sweet, warm, and satisfying, they have the power to resolve conflicts, heal wounds, and nourish our souls. Your words matter. Make encouraging others with your words a priority, sharing God’s goodness with everyone you encounter.

Power Lift

Dear God, I want to speak sweet, life-giving words to those around me. I want others to experience your love and grace when they hear my voice today.
