Daily Power #119

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father. (Eph. 3:14 NLT)

Growing up, I had a picture by my bed of a child kneeling in prayer, hands clasped together lifted toward heaven. There was something about this image that seemed to draw me toward God.

Years later, I’ve learned that when it comes to prayer, posture matters. While it may or may not matter to God, it matters to me. There is something profoundly powerful about kneeling before a holy God.

Kneeling represents humility, dependence, and submission. Without a doubt, God will hear our prayers whether we are standing, kneeling, or sitting. But when things are especially tough, challenging, or desperate, I love to honor God by kneeling.

When I’m on my knees crying out to God, I’m not just praying with my heart and words, but I’m praying with my whole body. My position says to God, “I worship you. I depend on you. I honor you. I need you. I submit to you.”

If you feel like your prayer life is a little flat or stale, why don’t you consider changing your posture? Give yourself a little more time than usual. Find a quiet spot in your home or outside. Remind yourself who God is to you as you kneel before him in need.

You might just find that kneeling to pray gives you the strength to stand.

Power Lift

Lord, I bow before you and acknowledge that you are my King. On my knees before you, I thank you for the many ways you strengthen me to stand firm in my faith.
