Daily Power #118
Daily Power #118
Set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. (1 Peter 1:13)
Around this time of year in my part of the world, spring is usually in full bloom and summer is right around the corner. If you’re like me, you start making plans for vacations, family visits, conferences, and other events that will fill up your calendar for the rest of the year. Before you know it, school will be out and your family will be putting away the coats and hats and getting out the shorts and T-shirts.
However, before the rest of this year starts to take off like a speeding train, take some time to honor your commitment to spend time with God—both alone and with others, in prayer and in silence. Just like any strong relationship, the amount of time together and the frequency of honest communication affects your bond. And as your schedule begins to get away from you, you will need time to quiet your heart and listen to God’s voice.
Instead of squeezing your prayer time around all the other events and commitments you have, what if you scheduled them around your prayer time? Today look at your calendar for the next few months and plan days when you will dedicate yourself to prayer and time alone with your Father.
Think you don’t have time to pray each day? The truth is you don’t have time not to pray.
Power Lift
Dear God, I’m grateful for the change of seasons and for the season ahead. During the busyness, though, help me to make our relationship my number-one priority.
