Creator, Father, King #26

Creator, Father, King #26

The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.

Psalm 19:1

HAVE YOU EVER TAKEN a walk through a flowery meadow or down an autumn path? Have you ever climbed a mountain and surveyed the seemingly endless landscape before you? Have you ever laid out a blanket on the ground on a cloudless night or gone to a planetarium and stargazed, contemplating the overwhelming size and beauty of our solar system?

The earth is more than our native planet, and the Milky Way galaxy is more than our home solar system. Earth—yes, even the entire universe itself—is a canvas. The Master Artist is God.

What’s It Mean?

Have you ever stopped long enough to consider God’s breathtaking power and handiwork in creation? That’s what today’s verse is calling you to do.

There are many other verses like this in Scripture. Here are a few examples:

  • The heavens proclaim his righteousness; every nation sees his glory. (Psalm 97:6)
  • The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths. (Psalm 24:1-2)
  • Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory! (Isaiah 6:3)

Our universe is full of so many wonders, it’s impossible to list them all. From the lowliest worm to the great herds of elephants stampeding across the African plains, from the smallest acorn to the great Himalayas, from the rings of Jupiter to star clusters in distant galaxies that our satellites can’t even reach—God has displayed his astounding authority and majesty in his creation in spectacular ways. He did this out of his great love for us so that we might enjoy what he created. He also displayed his awesome glory so that we might worship him.

Sadly, many people throughout the centuries have chosen to worship the created rather than the Creator (Romans 1:25). May it not be so with us. The marvels of his creation should continually draw us closer to him.

The heavens and earth proclaim the glory of God. Let’s worship him!

Now What?

Ask your parents or a trusted adult to take you on a day trip somewhere to enjoy the glories of God’s creation.

Did You Know?

NASA estimates that there are hundreds of billions of galaxies in the observable universe, perhaps even up to a trillion.
