For Life After Church Hurt
For Life after Church Hurt
IF YOU’RE BEING CHASED BY A BEAR, what do you do? You run.
If a meteorite is falling out of the sky, what do you do? You run.
Yet for some reason, our survival instincts often check out when it comes to protecting ourselves at church. It’s sad how many of our sisters have suffered abuse at the hands of a spiritual leader.
If there’s ever a time to pray, it is when deciding if, when, and how to leave one’s church. God should be a part of that decision! “This is a trustworthy saying,” says the apostle Paul. “‘If someone aspires to be a church leader, [they desire] an honorable position.’ So a church leader must be a [person] whose life is above reproach, . . . must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation” (1 Timothy 3:1-2).
If you discern that it may be time to run, then it’s also time to pray. Ask God to send godly support, direction, and clarity.
STRENGTH IN THE WORD
I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
TODAY I DECLARE
If needed, I will run.
PRAYERFUL THOUGHTS
Dear Lord,
I no longer feel comfortable at my church, but my life isn’t based on how I feel. It’s predicated on your will and my safety. Therefore, tell me what to do.
Please send someone who has sense and authority; someone who can effectively advocate on my behalf. I can’t face this issue on my own.
I need support and guidance.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
KEEPSAKE
