For Letting Go
For Letting Go
FOR SOME TIME, I’ve been fascinated with the weight limits set by airlines. I know that might sound strange, but the spiritual implications are glaring. If a plane is too heavy, it can’t fly safely. And if our spirits are too loaded down, our lives are unable to soar.
God cares so much that he invites us to release our baggage in prayer. He is a load-bearing God. Psalm 55:22 encourages, “Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you.” That includes the weight of our worries, regrets, shame, loneliness—anything that weighs us down.
Prayer is the unloading dock of our faith; it’s where we exchange our burdens for God’s rest. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,” Jesus said, “and I will give you rest. . . . For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28, 30, NIV).
So, my sister, it’s time to let the weight go. The Lord is asking that you give your heavy load to him.
STRENGTH IN THE WORD
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary.
TODAY I DECLARE
I release this load to God.
PRAYERFUL THOUGHTS
Dear Lord,
I feel overwhelmed. The weight of my burdens is too much to bear.
But you, O Lord, are my burden lifter. You have the strength to carry all loads. I release the baggage from my past, the stress of my present, and the worries I feel about my future. I’m releasing every burden to you. Please take it all, O Lord. Make my load light, and give me rest.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
