Standing Between My Spouse And Harm

protection - Standing between My Spouse and Harm

So will the Lord of hosts defend . . . deliver . . . preserve. Isaiah 31:5

Isn’t it good to have the Lord of Hosts as your protector? Others might be helpful, supportive, and encouraging, but you are promised that with Jehovah you will prevail. Nothing escapes His notice, and no obstacle stands in His way. The sheltering wing of His protection provides safety and security. His mighty hand preserves my life and protects me from the adversary. His strong name is my defense and shield.

Father, thank You for Your protection. I need You at my side to preserve and protect me and my marriage.

This passage in Isaiah reminds me (David) that God is the complete, absolute protector of my soul. As I read this passage, I picture myself in a battlefield under attack from a host of brutal enemies. I am weak, helpless, and exhausted. Just then the Lord tells me, “I am your safe refuge. I am the fortress you can run into and feel secure. I am your defender. I fight in the battle with you. I stand beside you and fight off the enemy’s blows. I shield you from their darts and deliver you from their traps. I am your hope for victory. I preserve your life and your health. I take you out of danger and set you in a place of rest. You must fight the battle, but know that I am always here to defend, deliver, and preserve you. You are my child, and I love you.”

As I have sensed God’s protection, I have been better equipped to give protection in my marriage. Protection means that I work to provide a safe haven and refuge for my spouse and to preserve the love that we share. It means I will never take for granted the gift that God has given me in my spouse.

In what specific circumstances or areas does God provide protection in your marriage? In what areas is He equipping you to provide protection?
