protection - Protected by Wisdom from Above
Wisdom strengthens the wise. Ecclesiastes 7:19
The psalmist speaks of my tendency to wander like a sheep, but he tells me that God’s wisdom protects me as I choose my steps. God’s wisdom protects me from straying as He gives me discernment for daily life. God sees it all—the big picture. He sees the end from the beginning and the last step before I take the first step. Such wisdom gives me something to share as I seek to love this special spouse God has given me.
Protection in marriage relates to a growing sense of security in your spouse. It means you have the confidence that your spouse will be there for you to lean on. It means you have the security of knowing that your spouse will defend your reputation or character. Protection means guarding against physical or emotional harm. It means doing all you can to protect your spouse from situations that would lead to emotional pain or stress. Protection means you will do what you can to support your spouse and come to his or her aid.
Father, give me the wisdom of Your Word. Help me to know exactly how to provide Your loving protection for my spouse.
In order to give my spouse protection, I must have wisdom and discernment from the Lord. His wisdom will help me know the timing and the practicalities of protection. His wisdom will help me know when to step in and when to wait on Him. His wisdom will help me discern how best to defend my spouse and still give grace to others.
Protection is sometimes complicated. That’s why I need God’s discernment and strength.
In what specific areas will you begin to provide protection for your spouse today? What steps will you take to provide that protection?
