God Is Your Strength

God Is Your Strength

Breathe Deep and Know: Even if your body is suffering, your soul can be strong. God—the source of your strength—will never leave you. He is yours forever.

We live in bodies that are riddled with all sorts of afflictions. There are a lot of things we can do to care for our bodies and make them as healthy as possible, but the reality is that every single one of our bodies will fail us at some point.

But even though our bodies may fail and our nervous systems may falter, though we grow weary and tired from the struggles of this life, our souls can remain strong because our strength doesn’t come from our circumstances but from God.

Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 4:16, “Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” The state of our soul is not dependent on what is happening in our outer bodies. No matter the illness or disease your body carries, no matter the disorder or diagnosis you’ve been given, no matter the disability or the difficulty you bear, your soul can flourish and grow and be renewed day by day.

The truth is, I can always have the peace and strength I long for, no matter the state of my body or circumstances, because true peace and strength is found in God, and as the psalmist reminds us: “He is mine forever” (73:26).

My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.

Psalm 73:26
