Parenting
There are a few things in life that I feel pretty good at. I love to write, organize things, and speak. I can cook a mean bowl of soup, and I keep a reasonably clean house. But there is one task that brings me to my knees more quickly than any other: parenting. I don’t know about you, mom, but nothing has made me more aware of my need for God’s wisdom than the daily challenges of parenting. Have you ever had that one child who manages to stomp on your last nerve every single day? What about the child who simply insists on learning every life lesson the hard way? I realized about a week after my daughter Savannah was born that raising her was something I couldn’t do alone. I wasn’t equipped. I needed help. I needed divine wisdom, patience, and perspective. Do you need help too? God stands at the ready. God’s Word is the only parenting manual you’ll ever truly need. Go to Him daily for wisdom. As you study God’s Word and lay out the day’s agenda in prayer, He will give you strength, and He will partner with you and your husband as you raise the children He has entrusted to your care.
WHEN YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO HEAR THE TRUTH . . .
We will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.
WHEN YOU’RE TEMPTED TO LASH OUT AT YOUR CHILDREN . . .
Gentle words are a tree of life;
a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
WHEN YOU REALIZE THE WORLD’S PARENTING WISDOM WON’T SUFFICE . . .
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
WHEN YOU NEED TO PICK UP YOUR SWORD AND STAY ON THE BATTLEFIELD . . .
We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
