Mentoring

Mentoring

I will never forget the first time I meditated on these words of Jesus in Luke 6:40: “The student who is fully trained will become like the teacher.” Those words sent chills down my spine as I pondered the reality that my children and grandchildren are being formed into my likeness as I teach and mentor them. Whether it’s a younger woman God has placed in our lives for mentoring, or our own children or grandchildren, we have an amazing opportunity. We can help form their character, their values, and their habits by the ways in which we mentor them. There can be no greater privilege than to mentor and shape the hearts of those God entrusts to our care. Is there a young woman in your life who needs a mentor? Maybe God is asking you to invite her into your life. Not sure? Ask Him. He is listening!

WHEN YOU THINK YOUR EXAMPLE DOESN’T MATTER . . .

The student who is fully trained will become like the teacher.

Luke 6:40

I urge you to imitate me.

1 Corinthians 4:16

WHEN YOU NEED ENCOURAGEMENT TO FOLLOW GODLY PEOPLE AS YOU GROW IN YOUR WALK WITH GOD . . .

You should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.

1 Corinthians 11:1

Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example.

Philippians 3:17

WHEN YOU FORGET THAT YOUR CHILDREN ARE WATCHING . . .

Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:9

WHEN YOUR LACK OF CREDENTIALS KEEPS YOU FROM WALKING IN POWER . . .

Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.

1 Timothy 4:12
