Beautiful Word Devotional #79

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Isaiah 43:19

God is in the newness business. He loves to take what is broken and made it brand-new. He loves to make pathways in our lives where none existed before. He loves to pour water on our parched souls and see new growth.

But notice the question God spoke through Isaiah: “Do you not perceive it?” The implication here is that the Israelites—who were promised this new thing—might go on with their lives and miss God’s renewal efforts.

And the same can happen to us. When we get caught up in the thickets of our own wildernesses, or when we focus solely on our lack, we can miss the great things God is actually doing.

You are created for blessing. God longs to make a pathway through your wilderness. He wants to water your dried ground. Respond today by simply opening your eyes and asking God to reveal to you where he is working. And then watch his glory unfold.

Lord, I don’t want to miss what you’re doing. Open my eyes, amen.
