Beautiful Word Devotional #63

There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD.

Proverbs 21:30

We are planners. We want to orchestrate the life we’ve always desired. Sometimes that manifests itself as an insatiable need for control.

No matter how much you strive to make everything right (from your perspective), God is the sovereign God of the universe, and his ways trump everything else. His plan will go forth. He will thwart our efforts, frustrate our striving, and put obstacles in the way of our efforts to be in control. We can keep fighting his plan, or we can learn to welcome his ways.

And what a beautiful plan God has for you. There is no need to fear his ways or the twists and turns he allows in your life. Like a good father, God wants what is best for his children. Your task, then, is to rest in him, to nestle into his goodness, trusting that his ways are higher and better than ours.

Lord, thank you that your plans for me are plans for good. Thank you for the deep peace and joy that come when I trust in that truth, amen.
