Beautiful Word Devotional #59

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13

This verse highlights an important but difficult-to-live-out verb: trust. Joy and peace come as you exercise your trust muscle. Then hope floods your heart.

Often we ask God for an easier life so we can be happy. Instead, he allows circumstances in our lives that require us to trust him.

And what exactly is trust in God? It’s choosing to believe that God sees us, is for us, and will carry us through every situation. Trust is not flashy. Instead, it’s a quiet choice we make, knowing that God commands the universe with power and skill—and that includes our universes, where our cares and worries dwell.

No matter where you are today, choose to trust in the ability of God to restore joy, peace, and hope to your heart.

Lord, I confess that it’s really hard for me to trust you. Enable me to see your faithfulness to me today as I lay down at your feet my cares and worries, amen.
