Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
1 Corinthians 15:33
If you have teens, you’ve probably shared this truth with them, imploring them to choose their friends wisely. You’ve seen and perhaps experienced the reality that the people we choose to hang around with can deeply influence the decisions we make and the way we live.
It’s easy to think this verse applies to our teens, not us. But consider that today you can interact with all sorts of people and entertain ideas from all around the globe. While that connection can be an awesome blessing, this “company” can also corrupt you.
So who are you keeping company with via the media? What are you spending your time viewing? What influence are those choices having on you? The more we saturate ourselves with bad company, the more corrupt our character can become. So choose your social media and entertainment wisely. Watch things that bring you closer to Jesus, not push you farther away. .
Lord, I surrender to you my viewing habits—and I know I’ll need to every day. Help me choose to watch only what honors you, amen.
